When a farmer contacts a buyer with clear information, the conversation moves faster and is more useful for both sides. Before you call or fill in an enquiry form, try to have the following ready.
About your farm
- Location: village, district and state.
- Total land area and the area under the crop you want to discuss.
- Irrigation source.
About your crop
- Crop and, if known, the variety.
- Age of the plantation or orchard.
- Expected harvest window.
- An honest estimate of quantity, based on past seasons where possible.
About your expectations
- Whether you are looking for cultivation information, a buyer for your produce or a longer-term arrangement.
- How you would prefer to be contacted, and the best time to call.
Photos help
Clear photos of the crop, the field and, at harvest, the produce itself help a buyer understand quality without a visit.
Agreements in writing
Any supply arrangement should be agreed clearly — quantity, quality, price basis, timing, transport and payment terms. Be cautious of anyone promising guaranteed returns or guaranteed purchase without written terms.
